The Wenger Group is looking for a Laboratory Manager, who is an integral part of our feed manufacturing team.

TWG is committed to continually developing its leadership position in the segment with a series of strategic initiatives that encompass, competitive positioning through nutrition advisory and leadership; differentiation and diversification through innovation and research; and enhancing customer experience through exceptional quality and management systems.
For its strategic growth and expansion plans including analytical capabilities, quality control activities, innovation and research initiatives, and commercialization of laboratory services, TWG is looking for a qualified and seasoned laboratory leader to spearhead the strategic function.
In this role, the individual will be leading the nutrition and quality laboratory function with expertise in analytical, wet chemistry, microbiological and other laboratory strategies in establishing the Wenger Nutrition & Quality Laboratory as the differentiator in the segment along with a profit center responsibility.

What your day looks like:
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Operations (40%)
o Establish Good Laboratory Practices for the animal nutrition, animal protein and quality segment encompassing, quality assurance, quality control, workplace health and safety, food safety and environmental considerations and reporting procedures.
o Ensure the laboratory complies with Wenger System and ISO Standards by implementing laboratory processes, procedures, direct applications thereof, required documentation and reports, review and update as needed.
o Serve as the lab compliance officer by ensuring laboratory is compliant with FSMA/FSIS, corporate, state and federal regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, State, ISO, etc) related to personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing as well as professional conduct at all times.
o Be responsible for continuous improvement in quality, food safety and safety culture of the team.
o Oversee daily laboratory activities including prioritization of test requests and review and interpret test results
o Identify a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and ensure timely intel on ingredients and finished feed analyses to internal customers
o Recommend and implement laboratory process improvement methods
- Commercial Laboratory Services (40%)
o Conceptualize, develop and implement commercialization of laboratory services with a differentiated positioning in the animal nutrition and protein segments to generate revenues.
o Achieve the budgeted revenues and expenses for the fiscal year; review the current expense and revenue streams, identify areas of optimization, develop, and implement plans to minimize costs.
o Be responsible for executing an approved functional budget including the management of team members, equipment, parts and supplies, annual maintenance agreements, outside services, consultancy, and other expenses to the fiscal year commitment.

Who you are:
Bachelors or Masters or degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, animal nutrition, agricultural sciences, basic sciences,
Overall, 10-15 years hands on experience in analytical, wet chemistry and NIR, principles of gravimetric analysis, spectroscopy including mass spectroscopy, developing new procedures, and training; 3-5 years offering and managing commercial laboratory services.
